The Case for an IPCA at Bistcho Lake

May 5, 2021

New draft report on the proposal for an IPCA in the greater Bistcho Lake area

The Dene Tha’ First Nation is proposing an Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area (IPCA) within our Traditional Territory in the greater Bistcho Lake area. The creation of an IPCA would continue our Nation’s journey to regain agency in stewarding our traditional lands, waters and resources.

An IPCA is an opportunity to combine existing environmental monitoring programs and an Indigenous-led Guardians program to manage the area using traditional knowledge and western science together.
